Plant description:
The English name of this plant is Toxicodendron succecdanea.
The resin plant, scientifically known as Toxicodendron succecdanea, was developed by the French and turned into a profession in the early twentieth century. This is an industrial plant with high economic value. The Son Tam tree has economic value obtained from the sap – the Son Tam resin is a precious source of raw materials that is essential for many industries and handicrafts such as making handicrafts (painting, attaching items made of bamboo, etc.). handicraft products, altar objects, lacquer goods, oil paint, etc.) boat painting, production of insulating materials, etc. Roots, leaves, and fruit peels are used to treat asthma, chronic hepatitis, and stomach pain. thickening, fall injuries, external use to treat broken bones, bleeding wounds, tuberculosis, etc.
The Son tree can adapt to many land areas and soil conditions. In the midland hills and northern mountainous areas of our country, sumac trees grow. There are two varieties of Son Ngon (red paint) and Son Ngai (white paint). White paint has more resin, but the quality of the resin is lower than that of white paint. On the contrary, white paint has a durable harvest time, and the resin is better than white paint. In the October season, when the old and ripe hawthorn fruits turn from green to white, they are collected and dried. When the hawthorn planting season comes, the outer layer of pulp is pounded and the seeds are planted. The mountain growing season has two seasons: The spring crop is sown from March to May, and the fall crop is sown in September and October. Planting density depends on the fertility of the soil. In good soil, the planting distance is 2-2.5m, in bad soil it is only 1.5-2m, usually 150-200 plants are planted per acre. After planting, it takes 2-3 years for the tree to be harvested. In the first year, people prick one side of the tree, called cutting the first side, and the next year, prick the other side, called opening the root side. When cutting each side, calculate the final distance between the bottom and top cut pieces to be about 8-10 cm apart, layer after layer. The pieces are cut in a V shape, very simple, but the difficulty here is that when cutting, you have to tilt the blade 5-10 degrees upward so that the cut piece tilts inwards while the sap flows out and collects towards the tree trunk, gathering concentrated at the junction of the V, flowing into the bottle below without overflowing with the bark flowing out. In particular, the cut must be very thin, only about 1 mm. If you cut like this, the paint will flow for a long time and the resin will be good, but if you cut thickly, the resin will flow out immediately but only after a while, just a little, and the resin will be painted and not good. Another difficulty is that when injecting resin, you must avoid heavy rain and sun. When it rains, the painted resin will easily overflow and not be concentrated in the shell. The collected resin will also be stale and rotten and will not last long. On the contrary, if exposed to high temperatures, it will dry the cut piece and the plastic in the bottle. Therefore, the injection time is mainly from 1-2 am to 7-8 am, and the resin injection time is around 9-10 am. If it is a sunny day, all work must finish before 9 am, so the paint cutter must Use a lamp and cut from the moment the cock crows. This hardship is also the reason why sumac trees are easy to grow but difficult to grow widely. The productivity of the Son tree is about 4 tons/ha/year.
Uses:
Son is an industrial crop that produces resin to serve industrial and household production.
Although manufacturing wooden furniture and many household appliances, people have introduced many types of industrial glues to attach and paint very quickly and cheaply, but the durability and beauty are difficult to compare with our paint. We clean the paint carefully, mix it with small wire saw bran to use as glue to bond wooden joints and the joints of some household appliances to be considered permanent without worrying about falling or deforming. In particular, the paint we process is used to make lubricating oil, lacquer to create paintings, and wood coating, so far there is no substitute for industrial paint. In addition, our paint is also widely used in the field of fine arts production, which is very popular in developed countries.
Careful:
Store in a dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Store in a closed container, keep out of reach of children.
Be careful when handling because it can cause poisoning.
