Distribution

The Lacquer tree thrives in various soils, growing in midland hills and northern mountains. There are two varieties: Son Gieng (red paint) and Son Ngai (white paint). In October, ripe hawthorn fruits are collected and dried for planting. The mountain growing season includes a spring crop from March to May and a fall crop in September and October. Planting density varies with soil fertility: 2-2.5m in good soil and 1.5-2m in poor soil, with 150-200 plants per acre. Harvest occurs 2-3 years after planting.

Cultivation

In the first year, one side of the lacquer tree is tapped. The following year, the opposite side is tapped. Harvest time

Another difficulty is that when injecting resin, you must avoid heavy rain and sun. When it rains, the painted resin will easily overflow and not be concentrated in the shell. The collected resin will also be stale and rotten and will not last long. On the contrary, if exposed to high temperatures, it will dry the cut piece and the plastic in the bottle. Therefore, the injection time is mainly from 1-2 am to 7-8 am, and the resin injection time is around 9-10 am.
